Dementia Adviser – North
E-mail: julia@dementiaoxfordshire.org.uk
Julia joined Dementia Oxfordshire in February 2018 and provides support to people living with dementia in the north of the county.
Julia has worked extensively in mental health, including Older Adult and Forensic services, and was most recently a manager of mental health services provided by Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health NHS Trust; working with clients in a horticultural setting as part of a social inclusion and wellbeing initiative. She is very experienced in working holistically with a person-centred focus with the aim of helping people to live their lives to their full potential.
Julia’s own experiences, both personally and professionally, have evoked a genuine interest and concern for the challenges facing those living with dementia, whether as a client or a carer, and she is fully committed to providing an effective service for those living in the community.
“I firmly believe that appropriate and meaningful care, intervention, activity and support should be readily available and accessible to those in need to ensure they are not simply ‘written off. They must be given opportunities to enjoy, in whatever way possible, a different yet challenging chapter in their lives; and most importantly, live with dignity and respect”.
