David is running for dementia care

2 minute read

David Mallinson is raising money for us! He said, “Each year in September I set myself a physical challenge to raise money for a charity. Last year I set myself the challenge of running 60 miles over the course of September. This for me was a big challenge as I was running 2 miles every day for 30 days, and for those who know me, running does not come easily or naturally.

“This year I am increasing the distance that I am challenging myself with, to 75 miles (120.70 km) over the course of September. This works out at 2.5 miles or 4.02 km every day for 30 days. I am raising money for Dementia Oxfordshire.

“Part of my role at the Atlantic Institute is supporting the work that the 7 Atlantic Fellowship Programs does. One of these Programs is the Atlantic Fellows for Equity in Brain Health at the Global Brain Health Institute and they provide innovative training, networking, and support to emerging leaders focused on improving brain health and reducing the impact of dementia in their local communities and on a global scale.

While I myself don’t have any experience of looking after/caring for someone who suffers from dementia, I have colleagues who do, and so this is my way of helping.”
