A memory café for people with a variety of memory problems to meet and socialise, whilst also allowing carers who are sharing similar experiences to meet up and offer support to each other.
The Café is an informal group, run by trained volunteers and staff, backed up by local specialists, the meetings allow people to relax in a supportive environment and enjoy a regular break away from the pressures of every day life.
You will be welcomed with a cup of tea and a biscuit. We start with fun seated exercises, followed by an activity provided by our visiting expert. Towards the end of the meeting we play parachute games, juggling, throwing balls, flat football, floor netball, finishing the meeting with a poem, lyrical or a reading.
We often use music, books, puzzles and other items to trigger reminiscing and encourage conversations about things from the past. We also plan to have occasional away days and parties.
